Dwayne Waggoner studied engineering with an emphasis in architecture and structures at the California Polytechnic State University San Luis Obsipo. It was after graduating when he worked as an assistant to the lighting designer at John Levy Lighting Productions in Los Angeles that he found his interest in architectural lighting design. After almost two years working in lighting design, Dwayne began the Master of Architectural Lighting Design at Hochschule Wismar in Wismar, Germany. While studying, Dwayne gained valuable experience as an intern at both Fisher Marantz Stone in New York and at Lichtvision in Berlin, Germany. For his masters thesis, Dwayne wrote a paper entitled Conveying Light: An Analysis of the Language of Lighting Design. This paper was presented at the Light Symposium in Stockholm and won the Paper Competition for young lighting designers. The award has provided him the opportunity to also present his findings in August at the LEDForum in Sao Paolo, Brazil. Dwayne is currently working as an architectural lighting designer at Lichtvision in Berlin and enjoys to travel and learn about languages and culture in his spare time.
