Chiara Carruci

ÅF Lighting

Chiara Carucci is a lighting designer with unlimited passion for the profession. She holds a Master’s Degree from the Politecnico di Milano and has been working in lighting design for cultural heritage and master plans since 2004. In 2015 she joined ÅF Lighting, which combines highly specialized engineering services with a Nordic design approach.

Through a conscious involvement in social media activities she supports her project team, while striving to raise awareness of lighting design. In 2013 she was invited, along with three colleagues, to report on the results of their survey “Shine a Light on Lighting Design!” at the conferences LuxEuropa, and PLD-C. They also co-founded the professional network ILD and a Facebook group that currently has 4700 members.

Let’s #LightUp2015 was a successful ILD campaign, aimed at making lighting associations cooperate and boost industry recognition as part of the UNESCO International Year of Light 2015. As a result, representatives of associations, educational institutions, collectives and media established “Lighting-Related Organizations” (L-RO http://www.l-ro.org/). They appointed Chiara Carucci as Lead Coordinator of this voluntary federation, especially for IYL2015.  In continuous dialogue with both the UNESCO Secretariat and L-RO members, Chiara is cooperating with coordinators and volunteers.
