David’s career originated in the Visual Effects department of the BBC where he designed and built special devices for television programmes. His career evolved into Production Designer with London Weekend Television (LWT), as well as independent Art Director commissions in advertising.

In 1992 David moved to Australia and after working on an international film at the Gold Coast studios he made a career transition to architectural lighting, initially as Lighting Application Manager with Philips. In 1994 he moved into lighting consultancy, first as senior designer with NDY, then as State Manager with Lincolne Scott (now WSP), and where he was Director of the lighting division (Vision Design) for 6 years.

In 2002 David co-founded PointOfView Design, an independent design consultancy. The company quickly made its mark, with offices in Melbourne and Sydney and work widely spread over the Asia Pacific region. Under his direction as Principal projects were serviced at home, New Zealand, Korea, Hong Kong, mainland China, Macau, Fiji, India and the Middle East.

A notable accolade from David’s portfolio of work includes the Epping to Chatswood Railway stations (4No.) which received the IALD award of Merit. David sold the PointOfView business in 2012 and it continues to prosper under new managers. David’s time is diversified and he operates as a lighting practitioner under his own name in order to return to his primary interest and skill as a designer.
